Theater and Dance Professor Phoebe Farber Publishes Article on Creativity and Therapeutic Change
Dr. Phoebe Farber, adjunct professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance, has published “Gathering Ashes: Therapeutic Change as a Creative Act” in the Journal of Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. In her article, Dr. Farber explores how creativity and imagination can help adolescents navigate the challenges of personal change, including loss, anxiety, and growth. Drawing on the work of psychologist and philosopher Rollo May, she examines how the therapeutic process can be understood as a creative act that helps individuals envision new possibilities and move toward transformation.
Dr. Farber teaches a course on the psychology of the creative process, and she also is a psychotherapist and writer. Additionally, she is the co-founder of Building Creative Minds and lead author of Igniting the Spark, a book about maximizing creative potential.
