Montclair State University Reaccredited Through 2033–34: A Message of Thanks to Our University Community

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) acted on June 25, 2026, and officially notified Montclair State University on June 30 that the University has been fully reaccredited. Montclair’s accreditation status, including its next scheduled review in 2033–34, is now reflected in the University’s Statement of Accreditation Status (SAS) in the MSCHE Directory of Institutions.

Importantly, the Commission issued no Requirements or Recommendations.

The University also received several commendations, including recognition for:

• The quality of the Self-Study process and report
• Our comprehensive and student-centered approach to fostering a sense of belonging and coordinated care
• The thoughtful approach to General Education reflected in the development of the SEEDS initiative and its corresponding course development

We extend our sincere thanks to the many members of the Montclair State University community who participated in the Self-Study process, contributed to the preparation of the report, and supported the Evaluation Team visit.

The work required to develop data protocols, collect and analyze evidence, engage the University community in discussion, prepare and write the Self-Study, and plan and conduct the site visit was extraordinary in both its scope and level of participation.

While the Executive Leadership Team coordinated the Self-Study and organized the Evaluation Team visit, this achievement represents the collective work of faculty, staff, managers, administrators, and students across the University. We are especially grateful to the members and leaders of the eight Self-Study teams - the seven Standards Working Groups and the Evidence Team - whose research, analysis, discussions, and writing provided the foundation for the final Self-Study and Evaluation Team visit.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this rigorous, collaborative, and ultimately rewarding process. Reaccreditation affirms not only the quality of the University and its work, but also our continuing commitment to institutional improvement and, most importantly, to the success of our students.
