Dr. Jennifer Yang, Developmental Psychologist, received $547,500 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study aging adults with Down syndrome that face a heightened risk of cognitive decline linked to early Alzheimer’s pathology. Current diagnostic tools often miss signs of cognitive decline. This project will determine whether spatial navigation could serve as a sensitive, domain-specific marker of early cognitive decline for adults with Down Syndrome, which may ultimately guide timely detection and intervention and improve clinical outcomes.
