Immersive Musical Theater: Workshop and Auditions for 2027 Internship in Italy (Agrigento)

This preparation workshop is connected to the musical Il Risveglio degli Dei/The Reawakening of the Gods, an enchanting show about Ancient Greek myths presented every summer at dawn in the UNESCO Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Led by its composer and director, Marco Savatteri, and one of the members of his company, Chiara Sardo, the workshop focuses on immersive site-specific performance skills and techniques. 

The workshop also functions as the audition to be selected for the 2027 edition of the paid internship that allows MSU students to become part of the musical's company, spending two months in Agrigento (in the region of Sicily) between rehearsals and shows.

Prof. Lori McCann (Voice, Cali School) will explain the importance of body movement in opera as well as of the study of Italian and international experiences in Italy. Prof. Teresa Fiore (Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies) will illustrate the broader international project that the internship is part of with its unique interdisciplinary nature.  

The workshop, like the internship, is open to Montclair State University students only.
