Biography
Tanesha A. Thomas earned her B.A. in Sociology from New York University (2010); her M.A.in Sociology, Graduate Certification in Critical Theory, and PhD in Sociology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (2020). Previously, she lectured at Brooklyn College, Lehman College and Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York (2013-2020). She is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Sociology Department at Montclair State University where she teaches several courses including Health, Medicine, and Social Policy; Environmental Policy; Statistics for Social Sciences; Applied Social Theory; and Introduction to Sociology.
Research
Dr. Thomas is a qualitative environmental sociologist whose research examines the historical roots of environmental inequities. Integrating statistical data, government documents, grassroots publications, and community archives, her work advances understanding of the origins and persistence of environmental health disparities.
