Biography

Sarah Lankenau Moench began her tenure as Costume Shop Supervisor at Montclair State University in July 2026. Coming most recently from Bethany Joy Costumes, LLC. having served as a Tailor/Draper there since relocating to New Jersey in 2023. Prior to that she served as a faculty member specializing in Costume Technology at the University of Florida and Arizona State University, as well as a staff Tailor/Draper at the University of Michigan and the University of Texas. Regional credits include the Santa Fe Opera, The Goodman Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Arel Studio in NYC. Sarah completed an MFA in Costume Technology at The University of Texas at Austin where she received training in draping, tailoring, mask making, fabric painting and dyeing, wig making and styling, millinery, and digital fabrication techniques such as 3D printing and laser cutting. She received a BA in Theatre with a concentration in Costume Design and Technology from Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
