Katherine Van Loan

Biography

Katie Van Loan, MA, MT-BC, LCAT (she/her/hers), is a board-certified music therapist and Licensed Creative Arts Therapist who has been practicing music therapy since 2009. She currently serves as a senior music therapist at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she provides individual and group music therapy, creative arts therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions for adults receiving acute inpatient psychiatric care. Katie has clinical experience across pediatric, psychiatric, geriatric, and developmental settings and is passionate about trauma-informed, person-centered care. She has supervised music therapy students and interns throughout her career and enjoys mentoring future clinicians. Her professional interests include acute psychiatry, vocal psychotherapy, mindfulness, clinical supervision, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Katie has presented nationally and internationally on music therapy and clinical practice.
