Anastasia Swope

Biography

Soprano Anastasia Ellanna Swope’s passion for Art Song has afforded her appearances not only throughout New Jersey, but Florida and the Midwest as well. Gifted with languages, in her program Lieder ‘n’ Lullabies, Ms. Swope brought Ravel’s Five Greek Songs to life in their original language, rather than the traditional French translations. Her collaboration with pianist Ana Cervantes in the presentation of Braiding the Tresses: Weaving Poetry and Passion into Song was hailed as “a superb recital, memorably flawless, and what an evening of Art Song should strive to be. . . . [Singing] with great sensuality, beauty, and power, [Swope] was able to freely float her melodies and managed to touch hearts and soul.” (Classical New Jersey). In concert, she has collaborated regularly with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and The New Jersey Symphony, performing a variety of repertoire from Vivaldi to Britten, Rachmaninoff to Rutter. She has sung under the batons of Jacques Lacombe, Neeme Järvi, Zdeneck Macal, Robert Spano and Joseph Flummerfelt, with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Her recording of Fauré’s Requiem with the St. Elizabeth’s Chamber Orchestra, Garah Landes, conductor, is due for upcoming release. Ms. Swope initially pursued a major in classics at The University of The South, but her BA ultimately became a double degree in Latin and music. She attended Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Adele Addison and Nico Castel, and holds a master’s degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College, where she studied with Lindsey Christiansen and Glenn Parker.
