Career Readiness Course Tag

We are excited to announce a new initiative in collaboration with the Office for Experiential Education and Career Connections.

Starting Spring 2027, any SEEDS course that has been redesigned to include experiential learning will receive the "Career Ready" skills tag. Tags will indicate that courses include hands-on learning and reflective practices aimed at helping students connect course content to the world of work. They will be visible to faculty, advisors and students.

Overview of "Career Ready" Tag Process

  1. Schedule a Consultation

    Schedule a consultation with the Office for Experiential Education and Career Connections to consult with a career services professional for assistance with enhancing your course to include experiential learning. This may include updating course outcomes to include skills-based competencies, co-designing project-based exercises and identifying external partners to support in-class projects and/or presentations. Consultation appointments are 45 minutes long. 

    It is recommended that you schedule your required consultation 8 weeks prior to the submission deadline.

  2. Redesign/Enhance Your Current Course

    Identify or create activities that align with the Career Readiness Point System Rubric's core pillars using the Instructor Guide. Highlight these activities in your revised syllabus so the committee and students can easily identify experiential components.

  3. Submit Your Updated Syllabus

    Once your syllabus is updated and your experiential learning activities have been clearly identified, submit it and your updated assignments/activities for a Preliminary Review to Chantelle Wright.

    The deadline to submit your updated course syllabus to the "Career Ready" Committee highlighting adjusted experiences and assignments is Friday, September 18.

    It is recommended that you revise your syllabus 6 weeks prior to the submission deadline.

  4. Committee Review and Approval

    If the course meets the criteria, you will receive a notification of approval. If adjustments are needed, the committee will provide specific recommendations for further revision. It is recommended that revisions be made to meet the University Curriculum Committee deadline.

    It is recommended that you undergo committee review 4 weeks prior to the submission deadline.

  5. Formal Submission for Final Approval

    After receiving committee approval, you will be provided a Letter of Support from the SEEDS Experiential Education Sub-Committee team. To finalize the "Career Ready" tag process, submit the below package to the University Curriculum Committee by October 10:

    • Approved Letter of Support: This confirms your course has met the pedagogical criteria for the designation.
    • Updated Syllabus: The final version containing the refined Experiential Learning activities.
