Foreign Travel Regulations
Requirements for University-Related Foreign Travel & Collaboration
All University-related faculty travel or collaboration outside of the U.S. must be approved by the Provost at least two weeks in advance of travel. Prior to travel approval by the Provost, the following activities must be completed:
- 2-6+ Months Prior
- Complete the Export Control Screening Response Form via Qualtrics. This form collects information regarding any travel outside of the U.S., as well as collaboration with any foreign persons and/or entities.
- 1+ Month Prior
- Complete CITI training for international travel and collaboration. The course you are required to complete is titled, “US Export Compliance.” If you need help registering for the course, please send an email to: exportcontrol@montclair.edu
- 2+ Weeks Prior
- Submit a Spend Authorization for travel in Workday, if applicable, in accordance with Finance Travel Regulations. Your CITI completion certificate should be attached to your Spend Authorization documents. Information pertaining to the per-diem and mileage reimbursement rates can be found by visiting the Montclair Finance and Treasury webpage.

*Note: Certain license requests submitted to the federal government can take upwards of six months. If you know your plans of travel, it is best to complete the above steps ASAP to ensure that there is ample time to acquire a license if necessary
