Communication and Media Studies

  • College of Communication and Media
Department Description

The Department of Communication and Media Studies (CMS) prepares students for meaningful careers and civic engagement through a rigorous, interdisciplinary curriculum. Our program explores how communication and media shape politics, organizations, relationships, health, gaming, and issues of race and gender, equipping students to think critically about the world around them. Students gain hands-on skills in presentation, leadership, message strategy, data analytics, and media production, alongside critical frameworks for analyzing mediated content. Graduates leave as media-literate, civically engaged professionals ready to navigate a rapidly evolving communication landscape.
