The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program at Bloomfield College of Montclair State University is a federally funded program established by the U.S. Department of Education. Located on the Bloomfield College campus, TRIO SSS works to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants by providing opportunities for academic development, assisting students with basic college requirements, and motivating students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. Our mission is simple: boost persistence, support student goals, and help students graduate.

Eligibility and Admission
To be eligible, students must be enrolled at Bloomfield College and taking classes on the Bloomfield campus, be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, and need academic support. Students must also meet at least one additional criterion: being a first-generation college student (neither parent holds a bachelor's degree), meeting federal income-eligibility guidelines, or having a documented disability registered with the Office for Students with Disabilities. Eligible students gain access to academic and personal coaching, on-campus and online tutoring, career counseling, financial aid and FAFSA assistance, financial literacy workshops, textbook and calculator loans, academic advisement and registration support, and more.
Program Expectations
As members of the TRIO SSS community, participants are expected to actively engage in the program by attending monthly one-on-one coaching meetings, participating in academic and professional development opportunities throughout their time at Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, and attending at least two TRIO-sponsored events each academic year.
