Cali Marketing and Communications

The Cali School of Music Communications Office supports the school’s digital, print, and promotional needs, including event marketing, newsletters, social media, branded materials, and select merchandise. Please use the information below to submit requests and access Cali communication resources.

Marketing Resources

To support effective and thorough promotion, please submit event information through the Cali Event Marketing Form at least one month before your event whenever possible. Earlier submissions are especially helpful for larger events that may require additional marketing support.

Event Marketing Form

Events may be promoted through a combination of Cali and University channels, including the University Calendar, Cali website, digital flat screen slides in the Cali building lobby, the monthly Cali newsletter, social media, and selected community calendar listings such as TAPinto, NorthJersey.com, Patch, Baristanet, and Montclair Girl.

Printed flyers will not be created for every individual event. Instead, digital marketing pieces may be developed to highlight all events taking place within each area. These materials may be shared with area coordinators for use through email and associated social media accounts. Larger or high-profile events may receive additional printed or digital promotional support when appropriate.

Cali events may also be promoted on the Cali School of Music Facebook page and Instagram Stories.

Faculty, staff, and students may submit news, announcements, event highlights, achievements, and opportunities for consideration in Cali’s email newsletters. Submissions should be concise and include all relevant details, including names, dates, links, deadlines, and images when available. Newsletter items are reviewed and edited for clarity, length, and alignment with Cali School of Music communications priorities.

Newsletter Submission Request Form

The Cali School of Music shares selected stories, events, student and faculty achievements, performances, behind the scenes moments, and school announcements on its social media channels. To request social media coverage or promotion, please provide a short description, relevant dates, tags or handles, photo or video assets, and any preferred language. Social media requests are considered based on timing, audience interest, available materials, and overall communications priorities.

Social Media Request Form

Areas, ensembles, programs, studios, and other groups within the Cali School of Music may maintain affiliated social media accounts to share area-specific news, events, student achievements, rehearsals, performances, and community updates. All accounts should support the mission and public image of the Cali School of Music and Montclair State University.

Beginning this academic year, all new University-affiliated social media accounts must be reviewed and approved through the social media request form before they are created. This process helps ensure that accounts follow University branding, governance, security, and account management standards.

All affiliated accounts must clearly identify their connection to the Cali School of Music. Account names and handles should align with the Cali brand whenever possible. Examples include @montclair_brass, @montclair_voice, @montclair_strings, or another clear variation that identifies both the area and its connection to Montclair.

Affiliated accounts must use the official Cali School of Music social media logo as their profile image. The logo may be customized by adding the name of the area, studio, ensemble, or program in a clear and professional format, following the approved example, such as montclair_brass.

Please do not stretch, distort, recolor, crop, or otherwise modify the official logo beyond adding the approved area name.

Content posted to associated accounts should be appropriate, accurate, inclusive, and aligned with the values of the Cali School of Music and Montclair State University. Posts should reflect the professionalism of the school and may include event promotion, student and faculty accomplishments, performance highlights, rehearsal photos, behind the scenes content, deadlines, opportunities, and approved announcements.

Associated accounts should avoid posting confidential information, unapproved student records, copyrighted materials without permission, or content that could be viewed as inappropriate, political, offensive, discriminatory, or inconsistent with University standards. When posting photos or videos, account managers should use good judgment and ensure that content represents students, faculty, guest artists, and the school respectfully.

Whenever possible, associated accounts should tag the main Cali School of Music account, @montclair_cali, so posts can be seen, shared, or amplified through the school’s main channels. Event related posts should also include accurate dates, times, locations, ticketing links, and any relevant University or Cali links.

Each associated account should have at least one faculty or staff member responsible for oversight. Login information should be kept secure and shared only with approved account managers. If an account manager changes, the area is responsible for updating access and notifying the Cali Communications Office.

The Cali Communications Office reserves the right to request edits, removals, branding updates, or account changes when needed to maintain consistency, accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with school and University communications standards.

Montclair’s storytelling brings our brand pillars—academic rigor, affordability, accessibility, diversity and inclusion, outcomes, and location—to life through authentic first-person voices. By highlighting real people and experiences, from high-demand academic programs and research to campus life, rankings, and future opportunities, it conveys a strong sense of belonging, possibility, and impact. The focus remains on each person and their journey, with the red chair serving as a simple visual cue that signals there is a seat for you here. This approach is easy to repeat, flexible across formats, and distinctive enough to build recognition over time while consistently reinforcing who we are and what we offer as a public-serving university.
