On Campus Full-time Course Schedule (2 Years)

The 2 year on campus program track starts in the Fall semester. All courses are 3 credits. Students take 5 courses (15 credits) per semester (Fall / Spring). There may be opportunity to take up to 2 electives during Summer sessions between the first and second year, to lessen the academic year load (Fall/ Spring).

Year 1 (Fall and Spring): Students receive comprehensive training in generalist social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. Students become familiar with prevention and intervention methods designed to promote client well-being, based on scientific inquiry and best practices. Course topics include diversity, oppression, social justice, policy, assessment and diagnosis, human behavior and research. Students also participate in a supervised practicum at least 15 hours per week.

Year 2 (Fall and Spring): Students obtain training in specialized clinical practice with children, youth and families. Course topics include clinical practice, family interventions, child and family policy, and clinical interventions with groups. Students also participate in a supervised clinical practicum at an agency serving children, adolescents and/or families for at least 18 hours per week.

Course topics include clinical practice, family interventions, and practice evaluation. Students also participate in a supervised clinical practicum at an agency serving children, adolescents and/or families for at least 18 hours per week.

The MSW Advanced standing program is a 33 credit program. All courses are 3 credits. Students complete 11 courses in three semesters (summer, fall and spring).

Summer: Students take Social Work Diagnosis and Assessment

Fall and Spring: Students obtain training in specialized clinical practice with children, youth and families. Course topics include clinical practice, family interventions, child and family policy, and child abuse and neglect. Students also participate in a supervised clinical practicum at an agency serving children, adolescents and/or families for at least 18 hours per week.

• 8 Semesters (terms) to complete
• Courses are year round (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters)
• Synchronous Online meet Mondays and / or Wednesdays, 6:00 – 8:45 pm required on zoom
• Asynchronous Online courses may have some optional meetings on zoom

The online Master of Social Work concentration in Children, Youth and Families is focused on supporting children and families within diverse groups and populations. With the online program, you will have the flexibility to balance your busy work and home life with your studies. You will develop close relationships with peers and faculty as you acquire the knowledge, values and skills to engage in ethical, culturally-responsive and evidence-informed social work practice.

With the online track, the 60-credit MSW can be completed in three years taking classes in the evenings. Online courses are synchronous and asynchronous with the synchronous classes held via Zoom on Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. The online track also includes in-person practicums in the second and third years.
