Meet Cali’s 2026–27 Artist-in-Residence, Terence Blanchard. A seven-time GRAMMY Award-winning trumpeter, composer and bandleader, Blanchard has created groundbreaking work across jazz, opera and film. A 2024 NEA Jazz Master and longtime collaborator of filmmaker Spike Lee, he made history with Fire Shut Up in My Bones, the first opera by a Black composer presented by the Metropolitan Opera.
